The 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD offers two powerful engine choices:

**Standard 6.6L V8 Gas Engine:** Produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Available in rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.

**Optional 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8:** Delivers 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque, mated to an Allison-certified 10-speed automatic. This engine unlocks the truck's maximum towing capacity of 36,000 pounds-ideal for those who regularly handle heavy loads.

Both engines are refined and responsive. The Duramax is the smart choice if you're towing frequently or hauling significant weight. For 3500 HD models, you can also choose a single- or dual-rear-wheel axle (dually) configuration.
